NJ's Music
Hall of Fame Launched in Asbury Park - (lft, Stan
Goldstein & Jean Mikle- co-authors of
Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore(2005) photo: Mike Booth) "It's
a great idea," says Goldstein. "Beyond Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen, so
many other NJ artists over the years need to be recognized. So many people don't
know Count Basie is from NJ; most don't know Frankie Valle is from NJ. The
museum will mean another place for tourists to visit on their Rock'n Roll
pilgrimage to Asbury Park."
"A museum of this kind is an idea whose time has come," says Helen-Chantal Pike, author of Asbury Park's Glory Days (2005). No location was announced. The Hall of Fame Board includes Gary Wien of Upstage magazine, Tony Pellegrosi of Starland Ballroom, Tim McLoone, Bob Santelli, and others. Call 732-774-8877.
